Christmas
2003
The morning of
Sunday 14 December was a children's carol service. The service
started with a bare nativity scene: a stable, a hillside, and
a night sky with a single star. As the worship leader told the
Christmas story and how the angels appeared to shepherds, the
congregation were encouraged to make shepherds and sheep out
of the supplied pipe-cleaners, and additional stars out of silver
foil. The children collected these up and added them to the nativity
scene. The children also helped to read the scriptures, play
a recorder solo, and of course, sing the carols.
A week later, in the evening, there
was a "carols by candlelight" service. Our pastor made
good use of the computer and projector that were acquired in
the past year, to show some thought-provoking video-clips during
the service.
On Christmas Day morning, there was a family
service.
Pictured here
is the regular nativity scene that comes out each Christmas at
Bethel.
Finally,
a look at one of the banners prepared by the ladies in the church.
This one, "King of kings and Lord of lords", was prepared
in time for Christmas 2002, and was hung up above the pulpit
again for Christmas 2003.
