Weekend
Away at Beechwood Court, April 2005
|
The church weekend took place from the evening of Friday
15 April to the afternoon of Sunday 17 April, at the Beechwood
Court Christian Endeavour Holiday Centre in Conwy, North Wales.
Everybody enjoyed the full-board catering - there was perhaps
a bit too much food, but at least it was only for a weekend! |
|
|
We had originally invited a guest speaker to lead the weekend,
but he had to pull out, and so the weekend was ably led by some
of our own members.
On the Friday evening, we broke into small groups to answer
a questionnaire about the ministry of the church. In two sessions
on the Saturday morning, we looked at how the church is declining,
why, and what we can do about it. |
|
Saturday afternoon was free time - opportunity to see
the sights around Conwy, or further afield. The weather was showery,
but it did not deter the majority from getting out and about.
Saturday evening is traditionally the "concert", in
which the talent of the congregation was exposed in music, poetry
and comedy.
On Sunday morning, Pastor Chris led worship and preached on
"the heart of worship", touching on commitment and
surrender. We cannot draw truly close to God unless we are willing
to give Him 100%, and we cannot live and enjoy life to the full
unless we draw close to Him.
The weekend finished with Sunday lunch, and we returned home. |
